Summary

The Sacred Ancestor or Shinso (神祖; lit. God Ancestor) is the main antagonist of Hideyuki Kikuchi's Novel Series "Vampire Hunter D". Potrayed as the God of Nobility and the father of D, the Sacred Ancestor is the main progenitor of the race of Nobles even before the creation of the Earth. Throughout the novel he is potrayed as an extremely enigmatic being who at times is depicted to be cruel, while at times is also depicted to be a saviour to others. He carries out bizzare and mysterious experiments that involves fine specimens from all species including, but not limited to, mostly Humans and Nobles who are experimented upon to create his goal of the Perfect Being: a Success. It is unknown as to why D holds so much hatred against him despite the latter being D's father, but it has been made evident throughout the novels that the Sacred Ancestor is an Omnipresent Eldritch Abomination or Lovecraftian Horror embodying Darkness and Non-Existence in the verse.

  • The Sword of Sacred Ancestor: The Sword of Sacred Ancestor is a weapon which was used by him against The Elder God and which ultimately sealed the God in the Fortress. The Sword of Sacred Ancestor is a large longsword with a Dragon encrested on the hilt and containing massive power bestowed by the Sacred Ancestor. This sword is adapted into the movie "Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust" where it was used to kill and seal Carmilla in the castle.
  • Blue Blood: The Blue Blood is a giant sword with massive thickness and width which was given to Grand Duke Drago by the Sacred Ancestor. The Sword contains the tortured souls of his failed accursed experiments who were killed and their curses and hatred for both the Nobility and the Sacred Ancestor is imprinted on the Sword. Anyone who gets even slightly cut by Blue Blood will be cursed and they will not only be able to heal the wound no matter what but also blood will flow out from every orifice and pore of the body continuously. This sword is powerful enough to even affect D himself.
  • A/P Unit: The A/P Unit or the Assault/Protection Unit, this Weapon can be activated instantly by the Sacred Ancestor. He uses it to blast D with a column of Magma that envelops him in searing heat that stretches from the ground to the sky. This column is then transformed into a white pillar in an instant that stretched on for thousands of miles in every direction to support the sky, sparkling jewels began to affix themselves, as if they had been there from the beginning with a temperature -459 degrees-frozen to absolute zero. The first attack would destroy the body the second would impede it from healing as Frozen at absolute zero, where movement on the molecular level should have stopped.

Noteworthy Techniques and Abilities

  • Kiss of the Nobility: The Kiss of the Nobility isn't really a kiss in the literal sense, but rather it is the bite of the Nobles or Vampires into the neck of the human victims that turns the latter into a Vampire or Servant of Nobility. The Kiss of the Nobility has multiple abilities all packed into one which includes biologically changing the physiology of the victim to that of an Immortal Undead Noble, tainting the soul, mind, and will of the individual so that they become a member of the evil darkness, imbuing the victim with almost all the powers of the Noble including Regeneration, Status Effect Inducement, and many more. However, depending on the Noble, the victim can gain special unique powers.
  • Blood Sphere: A floating drop of blood that is only the size of a small coin floats up from the palm or any body part of the user which blocks every form of attack physically from an enemy by erasing it completely and requires the blood of relatively equal or powerful opponents to destroy it.
  • The Night: A power to create night even in the day time, it seems to boost the powers of Vampires. The Sacred Ancestor gives this power to Toma as well as the Black Death Gang to use as they please. The power is described as: Moving across the sun. Or rather, the surroundings were suddenly, and unexpectedly plunged into darkness, its physical and temporal characteristics were of the night itself. It seems to not only make the night but gives the user access to control the temporal surroundings to make and control this night as they please.
  • Light of Creation: Described as stark, radiant sunlight- the light that drives back the darkness, warms the earth and gives life to all things. A powerful attack using the purest of sunlight, a blast of holy power that can split the darkest of spells and defenses which can result in instant destruction of most Nobles when hit with it.
  • Water Magic: An ability of the Sacred Ancestor which was taught to Viscount Kraken, the user is able to completely control water around their domain or area of effect and can use water for both offensive and defensive purposes.
  • All-Seeing Eye: A power developed by the Sacred Ancestor and gifted to Duke Daios Dandorian and later, Meg Stow, the user is able to capture the image of the victim in the black eye of the palm which allows them to know the location as well as the actions of the victim as well as prevent their actions and even control their body as per their command.
  • Miracle Blood Light: An ability which is also inherited by D, the eyes of the user glows as Blood Lights which can affect even completely non-existent entities making them feel fear and as if their formless bodies are being torn apart. Miracle Blood Light is used as an ability to completely nullify and negate all forms of Immortalities, Regeneration, and even Resistances of the opponents.
  • Heart of Darkness: An ability of the Sacred Ancestor which allows him to create a Black Heart and implant it within the souls of the opponent causing them to be cursed and unable to pass into the afterlife. The Heart itself is made from the same material as Dreams and so absurdly metaphysical in nature that not even D could cut it initially and if it is touched or attacked even physically, it will inflict hellish pain and agony over the opponent.
  • Akashic Records: The Akashic Records are the ether or the primordial force which governs all of creation in all past present future. With the help of Akashic Records, the user gets the ability to control Space and Time, change Laws and Reality, manipulate Fate and probability, gain information of everything living or dead as well as every event in all of creation as well as rewrite that information, copy powers from beings no matter if it's organic or inorganic, negate powers & energy, erase anything or anyone on a conceptual level, manipulate void, create pocket realities and higher dimensional realms by editing the records, manipulate souls and dreams, redirect damage and inflict pain, forcibly make it so that someone would completely obey their orders, rewrite death and life as well as causality itself. Since the records can be read and manipulated like a literal book which reflects upon all of creation, it is plausible that it gives the user some degree of Plot Manipulation as seen when D retconned the ending of "Tyrant's Star Part 3 & 4" giving Sue and Matthew a happy life just like their mother wanted.
