Summary

Christian Brocken Rosenkreuz, more commonly known as the Golden King, is the main antagonist of Ourai no Gahkthun ~What a Shining Braves~.

He is a member of the West India Company, also known simply as The Society and is one of the highest-ranking members in the organization, belonging to the commanding echelons; his title in the Society being the "Golden King. Rosenkreuz is, in reality, a member of the Great Race of Yith, earthly beings who existed in the old days of the planet and former ruler, and was also the founder of the organization from which later became the large organization it is known in the present as the Society.

Rosenkreuz has became the Society's Acting Leader several times in place of their true leader, Altothas Thoth Hermes. At one point, he later enacted a plan to eliminate Nikola Tesla, another member of the Society who defected from them and even stole the Machine Belt, both of which invoked the wrath of all the Society to the point of casting him as their one and only great enemy. For this, the Golden King spent the next 50 years by utilizing the artificial island of Marseille Offshore Academia as the place to achieve enough power to wipe out Tesla once and for all.

Rosenkreuz was said to have lived in a time when science was known as alchemy, thus he had amassed a large quantity of knowledge pertaining to science. Rosenkreuz was also said to have founded an organization known as the Rosy Cross, a group that eventually came to be the basis for the modern Society. His status and rank even among the Society's upper echelons is so great that other top executives such as Adam Weishaupt reveres him as much as he does for their leader, and has enough leadership to become the Acting Leader of the Society in place of its true leader, Althotas Thoth Hermes.

Rosenkreuz's intellect was even acknowledged by both Seikyo and Kadath to be granted the title of Erudite Scholar, an honorary title given to scientists of rare talent who contribute to humanity, specifically becoming the second generation "Formula Wielder" amongst the Ten Great Scholars as of 1908.

Additionally, Rosenkreuz is the source of Arts used by the students of Marseille Academia, which includes the likes of Emilie's Art which with just a quick glance, can predict the behavior of all 100,000 students instantaneously. Emilie is able to even calculate the exact sentence, word per word, that another person is going to say in a conversation, as well as creating mental maps of the Academia with just a glance, read body movements to guess someone's state of mind, etc.

The Bar, which exists at the far reaches of dreams, the boundary between conscious and unconscious, is accessible only to those, such as Golden King, who know the secrets of the Collective Unconscious, which is the connection of consciousness, the synthesis of information, a sea of nearly infinite knowledge built up from the past to the present.

• Crimson Eyes (Gaze of the Rose): A pair of glowing, crimson eyes formed as a result of implementing a special "scientific formula" into oneself, the nature of which is powered by the Tick Tock Man's power, used only by the highest ranking members of the Society. In the Golden King's case, he can annihilate anything in his line of sight, or in the range of his Cracking Field, reducing the target to mere particles. It also works against beings impervious to all aspects of physics and essentially just a phenomenon, such as Critters. When used against Nightingale, the instant she became conscious of his gaze, her Art had died hundreds of deaths in her place. As such the gaze can atomize and kill hundreds of beings in an instant such as the Others, illusions formed out of light and shadow, and works on even Critters, who are supernatural phenomena impervious to all aspects of physics and can exist only as possibilities.

• Art: In the time the Bell of Gahkthun is undergoing its maturation process, Rosenkreuz granted many students of the Academia with a limited form of his Cracking in the form of Arts as both a blessing and curse to grant them power in exchange of feeding off their desires and radiance to further the Bell's maturation. Despite their limited application, Arts are an expression of the Cracking Effect which can control and warp physics, thus its users can ignore even the laws of physics and can perform any phenomena in a limited manner such as creating fire, walking on air, fly, and so on. Known Arts as seen in the series are as follows:

Ultharathotep

Ulthrathotep: The result of Rosenkreuz's ultimate form from the Bell of Gahkthun's complete maturation process. It is a gigantic form that is thousands of feet tall (much taller than Berta's Typhon and Tesla's Knight of Thunder, even when the latter increased the Knights size 10x its base size), and possesses numerous giant golden eyes he has given and gathered to numerous students including the Governing Council over the years since the start of the Bell's maturation.

• Enhanced Cracking: Upon his transformation, Rosenkruez's Cracking increased dramatically, allowing him to shape the very laws of reality as he sees fit, and control and warp the laws of physics beyond what a normal user of Cracking could achieve. In addition, the range of his Cracking expands to such a degree that it rivals the entire earth and was continuously doing so.
• Enhanced Crimson Eyes: In Ultharathotep, the Rose Ruler's gaze was further strengthened to the point that it was hundreds of millions of times stronger than before. This gaze was powerful enough that Tesla, who was previously unaffected in the slightest while in direct line of sight in his base, started to get affected after Rosenkreuz transformed even with the use of his electric barriers protecting him while in his Knight of Thunder form.
• Golden Eyes: Amongst the gigantic form of Ultharathotep are numerous Golden Eyes of gigantic proportions, each one dwarfing Tesla's Knight of Thunder at its base size and still bigger in size after the latter increased its form. The Golden Eyes are derived from the countless sacrifices given to the Bell of Gahkthun in its maturation. Rosenkreuz uses these eyes as part of his branch hands, which given its numerous legends where the user can "see through all things", he uses them in conjuction with the hands to make his attacks next to impossible to dodge to the sheer speed and force they can attack.
• Grotesque Demonic Hand: The strongest ability in Ultharathotep. Through the power of the Golden Eyes he collected and his enhanced Cracking, Rosenkreuz can manifest multiple hand-like branches from his body and all over his Cracking Field. These branches, each fitted with several of the Golden Eyes, are capable of erasing the "real and illusory, the physical and metaphysical". In other words, not only are the hands capable of affecting corporeal entities, they're also effective in being able to interact with and harm metaphysical entities such as Nikola Tesla, a being whose essence by making contact with the Thunderbird (an Old One who is the embodiment of lightning) makes as such. Additionally, they can tear through the fabric of reality and break through the boundaries of time and space, making anything they annihilate hit without fail as it is completely instantaneous in its attack speed and, due to the nature of the Golden Eyes, they're just as highly accurate in ensuring the attack lands, making evasion useless as well as nullifying all physical defenses.
• Regeneration: In addition to the great power of Ultharathotep, Rosenkreuz is also capable of regenerating its form in the event it gets destroyed. In his battle with Tesla, he instantly regenerated and reformed his body even after it was completely destroyed by the latter's Alternate Buster at its maximum power, with his regeneration stated to be on par with Tesla's who can reform through electricity itself and regenerate from attacks made by his branch hands while his level of radiance is at its lowest point.
