Summary[]

Akaza is a major supporting antagonist of Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a demon affiliated with the Twelve Kizuki, holding the third highest position, Upper Kizuki Three. As a Demon Moon, Akaza is one of the closest servants of the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, whose main purpose is to find the Blue Spider Lily so that Muzan can gain immunity from the sun.

Over a century ago, Akaza was a human by the name of Hakuji, a young man who had endured numerous hardships to care for ailing father, even if it meant enduring brutal beatings. After the loss of his father and due to his past crimes for trying to help him, Hakuji eventually resorted to fights with any he came across until he met Keizo, the owner of a local dojo who easily took him and down and then takes him in to care for his sick daughter, Koyuki, who would later become Akaza's fiancée after she eventually recovered along with becoming the heir to Keizo's martial arts dojo. But before that could happen, a rival dojo had poisoned Keizo and Koyuki while Hakuji was away due to them being unable to defeat Keizo and Hakuji in a fair fight. Saddened and enraged by this massive loss, Hakuji enacted his revenge using the martial arts Keizo taught him and annihilated all 67 members with his bare hands, an act that was deemed so brutal it was considered a fictional event yet one that caught even Muzan's attention.

The Demon King at the time found Hakuji shortly after and, though disappointed it was a Demon, recruited the young man to his ranks as part of the Twelve Kizuki. Hakuji on his part, not wanting to live in a world where his loved ones were no longer living, accepted without care to himself, losing his memories in the process and becoming the Demon known as Akaza.

Powers and Stats[]

Dimensionality: 3D

Threat Level: At least Wolf+

Powers and Abilities: Demon Physiology, Master Martial Artist, Absorption (Though not shown, he should be able to do what Kokushibo and Doma could do which is absorbing others, Human and Demon alike, as another way of killing others or of sustenance), Immortality (Type 2; Even after having his neck severed, Akaza was able to keep on living and even continuously regenerate while headless), Limited Telepathy (Upper Kizuki like Akaza could share their thoughts and sight with other Demons lower in rank than him if Muzan allows it), Enhanced Senses (Can sense one's "Battle Spirit", which allows him to fend off attacks even if they were to attack his blind spots. His Compass's ability to sense Battle Spirit grows the stronger his target's Battle Spirit becomes, while also enables him to attack his enemies weakspots with his blows being attracted to them "like magnets"), Aura (Materialized and Explosive types; Akaza's Blood Demon Art takes the form of powerful shockwaves he creates through his attacks, taking on the forms of nigh-invisible air pressure, flowing streams, or cannon-shaped spikes), Resistance to Poison Manipulation (Should possibly scale to Doma, who could decompose and gain resistance to Shinobu's poison's, and couldn't die even after absorbing Shinobu, whose body contained 700 times the average dose to kill a normal Demon (Stated and corrected by Author). As Upper Moon Three, Akaza should scale to Gyutaro, who was able to quickly regen and recover from a wisteria-laced kunai) and Regeneration Negation (Up to at least Mid; Was able to keep on living through decapitation, which is normally death for most Demons, and even still kept on healing his body's wounds before growing back his head)

Physical Strength: At least Small Building level, likely higher

Attack Potency: At least Small Building, likely higher (The Third Strongest of the Twelve Kizuki and overall fourth strongest Demon. Wounded Kyojuro Rengoku to this extent; prior to his promotion as a Hashira, Rengoku was hit with dozens of dynamite that did this and recovered with wounds only this much during his fight with Hairo. Also smashed through multiple floors of a building, and craters a ground)

Durability: At least Small Building, likely higher (Unphased by Tanjiro's attacks, including a headbutt to the face. From a much earlier arc, Tanjiro was able to headbutt the Hand Demon's attack away, said hand was made by fusing multiple hands that should be as powerful as several individual ones doing this)

Speed: At least Supersonic (Can move at a "fraction of a blink", and can create shockwaves that he uses as long-range attacks. Easily kept up with Rengoku, who in a younger form fought then Lower Rank Two Hairo who used guns to fight him, with Rengoku being able to block and outpace them. Moved so fast Tanjiro thought he disappeared; Tanjiro at this point should have been faster than what he was prior to his rehabilitation, where he could already keep up with FTE Demons and react to Kyogai's attacks which are this fast)

Intelligence: Gifted (With over a century of combat experience and martial arts training under his belt, Akaza is able to fight effectively with foresight and tactical intelligence, having managed to defeat numerous Demon Slayers including several Hashira's in the past as well as with Kyojuro Rengoku. This even surprised Giyu, who stated that Akaza could instantly evolve and adapt to any attack or technique that he uses, to the point that he can predict when his opponents will strike and how to counter them with equal power. Even before he became a demon, when Akaza was still Hakuji, he displayed a natural aptitude in martial arts, shown when he was capable of beating up trained swordsmen from neighboring dojos while still in the midst of learning Keizo's Soryu Style, later shown in full where his skills in Keizo's Soryu Style was used to beat and kill all 67 members of a rival dojo trained in kenjutsu in such brutal display that it was considered a fictional event, such that initially impressed Muzan even he thought a Demon had done it. Further exemplified here where even way before his training in martial arts, Hakuji was able to fight and defeat seven grown men.)

Stamina: Limitless (Demons don't ever get exhausted)

Range: Extended Melee range with sword, several meters with Blood Demon Art (Was launching attacks this far away from him)

Weakness: Weaknesses associated with Demon Physiology. His Compass Needle is useless if it's unable to sense any Battle Spirit from his opponent as Tanjiro demonstrated with his use of Transparent World.

Noteworthy Techniques and Abilities[]

Destructive Death: Akaza's Blood Demon Art. It takes the form of a martial arts style that combines shockwave-like attacks and his Soryu Style he mastered when he was human. The shockwaves Akaza manipulates are blue in color and can take on many forms, such as nigh-invisible air pressure, flowing streams, and cannon-shaped spikes. He is capable of generating the shockwaves of his Blood Art at will, from any distance, and seemingly from any part of his body. Akaza has his shockwaves accompany every single one of his attacks, amplifying his already powerful blows of his Demonic strength.

At the start of a battle, Akaza initiates his Blood Demon Art through deploying a special technique called Technique Development. Akaza starts by going into a stance unique to the Soryu Style which there are 2 versions of: The first version is a stance that's performed by bending his knees in a half-crouch position, extending his right arm with a half-clenched fist facing his body and bending his left arm with an open palm; the second version is nearly identical except he opens his palm on his right arm while fully clenching his fists in a downwards bend on his left arm. Like the Soryu Style, Destructive Death is a bare-fisted martial arts style that utilizes both the user's arms and legs to unleash swift and powerful strikes that target an opponent's neck and weapon. Combined with his superhuman strength and his speed, this makes him a formidable opponent in both close and ranged combat.

  • Compass Needle: Akaza deploys a light blue snowflake-shaped compass underneath him with numbers ranging from 1 to 12. This technique allows Akaza to sense a person's "Battle Spirit", allowing him to detect and track the locations of his opponents, even from his blind spots, and where and how his opponents will attack him. Its effectiveness also grows the stronger his opponent's "Battle Spirit" becomes. Additionally, this technique can be used to discern an opponent's weak points, as stated by Tanjiro when Akaza always instinctively aimed for his vitals as if his fists were magnets attracted to them. Akaza always has this technique activated when engaging in combat, making all other techniques he unleashes extremely difficult to counter and evade while making his attacks all the more lethal.
  • Void Style: Akaza punches the empty air in front him, creating a shockwave from the pressure of his fists and then sends it flying towards his enemies. These airborne shockwaves can be created multiple times in quick succession and can be unleashed in the sky or on the ground.
  • War Style: Punching rapidly in front of himself, Akaza creates a barrage of ranged shockwaves. This attack was capable of overpowering Kyojuro's Flame Tiger technique.
  • Obliteration Style: One of Akaza's most powerful techniques. Akaza lunges forward, punching with so much force it creates a powerful shockwave that is capable of going through Kyojuro's most powerful attack, Purgatory.
  • Leg Form: Cap Tip Slice: A reverse, rising axe kick that creates a shockwave that deals additional damage to the target. Tanjiro noted that a slight scrape from this kick caused him to bleed.
  • Leg Form: Flowing Light Flash: A flashing flurry of powerful straight kicks, each creating shockwaves capable of launching Giyu a great distance while being fast enough to evade his reflexes.
  • Dual Layered Demon Wick: Akaza unleashes eight powerful punches, each strike creating large shockwaves in a similar fashion to his War Style technique.
  • Crush Style: Willow of a Thousand Flashes: A powerful downward punch that delivers a large shockwave into the ground that expands outward.
  • Leg Form: Ring of a Thousand Flying Planets: Akaza kicks his opponent with both legs in a flowing motion from under them that slowly rises upward.
  • End Style: Chaotic Blue Metal Afterglow: Akaza's ultimate martial arts technique. Akaza creates an omni-directional barrage of thin and sharp shockwaves that seemingly strike out of nowhere from a flurry of punches. This attack was so powerful that it could completely negate Giyu's Dead Calm technique, a move known for its immense defensive capabilities.
